New Kickstarter: Japanese Ebonite Fountain Pens

Dear Friends,
We are very excited to share with you our first pens made from the best Japanese ebonite. We just launched a Kickstarter campaign where you can get them at a 40% discount (early backer).
Why Ebonite?
Since 2015, we have been making metal pens in California. We have experimented with aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. During the last year, we have been searching for the highest quality Ebonite. We are thrilled to have found the perfect one in Japan. It has a stunning matte black color with amazing mechanical properties. Ebonite has long been regarded as one of the best materials to make fountain pens. It is excellent for machining, has a beautiful appearance, and it is smooth to the touch. In addition, it absorbs heat rapidly so it warms in your hand while in use and creates a wonderful writing experience. Ebonite is a hard rubber obtained by vulcanizing natural rubber from gum trees with sulfur and linseed oil for prolonged periods.
Two Pen Sizes, Large #6 Nib, Eye Dropper
We are offering our standard-size PIUMA and our PIUMA Pocket fountain pen. Both pens come with a #6 nib made by Bock in Germany. We also designed both pens for eye dropping capabilities- threads are designed to prevent ink leakage and o-rings are in place to allow a perfect seal. These pens also accept standard international ink cartridges.

Dear Backers,
We hope you are doing well. We are very happy to inform you that all pens were shipped today. An automated email with your tracking number was also sent out today. Please look for an email from Backerkit- it could be in your spam folder. Only a few backers have not completed their survey so we will ship those pens as soon as we hear back from them.
Domestic packages will arrive in 3-5 days. International orders usually take 7-10 days but can take longer (several weeks) depending on customs clearance and the efficiency of the local postal service- please monitor the progress of your package at the USPS website and contact your local post office with your tracking number if you have not received the package in 3 weeks.

We want to let you know that we are on schedule and will be able to ship your pens during the third week of May. Almost all parts have been machined and we will proceed with anodizing and finishing.

Dear Backers,
Thank you very much for your support. We are really excited to bring this pen to the market. During the next two weeks, Kickstarter will verify all payments and send us a final backers list. As soon as we receive this information, we will send you an email with a link to complete your survey. Within your survey, you will be able to input your address and you will also be able to order more pens at the Kickstarter price. Soon after, we will start production. We don't anticipate any delays, but we will keep you informed about the progress.
